Are you looking for a dynamic and fulfilling role where every day brings smiles to children's faces? We are looking for a fun, passionate and enthusiastic individual who is keen to make a difference in the lives of children, to join our amazing team.

Working within our refuges, you will be part of a team dedicated to enriching the lives of children who have experienced domestic abuse. You will undertake weekly 1:1 therapeutic sessions with children as well as working closely with local schools and children’s services.  The work is entirely child led where we offer therapeutic activities such as play, art & crafts, games or anything else that a child may be interested to facilitate exploration of feelings, emotions, worries and the child’s own experience of domestic abuse.

You'll create magical moments for children, fostering creativity, imagination, and resilience. If you're passionate about making a difference in children's lives and being part of a supportive and empowering community, apply now for this exciting opportunity.

There will be many days where you will laugh, play and bring happiness to children; there will also be times where the role is emotionally challenging but by listening to our young people, and offering comfort and support during difficult times, you will find this role hugely fulfilling and rewarding!

What we are looking for:

  • Experience and understanding of working therapeutically with children, on a 1:1 and group basis, supporting them through a range of difficult situations

  • Knowledge and understanding of child development, safeguarding issues, child protection, the Children’s Act 1989 and 2004, issues surrounding child contact, residence and other relevant legislation

  • Passion for providing a safe space for vulnerable children

  • Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with colleagues, children, parents and other professionals, working in partnership where required.

  • Ability to use a variety of techniques to clearly and successfully communicate with both children and adults

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs

  • A full UK driving licence, a reliable car that can be used for work purposes and to live no further than a 45 minute drive from our offices in Woking.

Your role will involve planning and delivering a range of high-quality work with children that meets their needs, working closely with the schools, colleagues and other professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of those we support.  Developing a dialogue with children and their parents in order to assess their needs, along with advocating and signposting, are key to the role as is creating a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment.  You will also support parents to rebuild their confidence and parenting skills.

In return we want to support you with your career; therefore, we’ll give you the support you need to progress and develop your skills - this includes further qualifications and developing your therapeutic skills.

At Your Sanctuary we offer 25 days annual leave per annum plus Public Holidays, a contributory pension scheme and an employee assistance programme along with high quality training and development.

Your Sanctuary is fully committed to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people and our recruitment practices will reflect this.  Successful applicants will be required to undergo a full referencing and DBS process before any offer of employment is confirmed.  More information can be provided upon request.
